Pre-Gaming. Or not. Well...
I'm doing that thing that I do when I have a gig to play but cant justify leaving for it yet. Which is to say I'm wandering around my house halfway thinking about getting dressed or learning a new song for the show but knowing all the while that I'm not going to do either because 1. It's to early to get dressed and 2. I don't have time to learn a new song. So I am doing something that I hardly ever do. Something. That something being posting a blog to give anyone that cares a glimpse into how convoluted my head gets when I have something to do, just not yet. It's a feeling I'm positive is universal. That tiny 5 minute window you give yourself before you start doing something that you don't really feel like doing because you figure "Eh, I can spare 5 more minutes." Not to say that I don't want to go to my gig, I love playing. I'm just saying I don't feel like doing anything at all before I have to leave for it. So it's kind of a large scale procrastination. Which is much worse than your run of the mill procrastination because I'm putting off doing things that could be really fun. For instance, today I could have gone surfing, gone to the gym, played tennis, drank beer and floated in the pool, etc. But I did none of those things because I have a gig to play tonight. Despite the fact there there was literally an 8 hour window of free time. I did wash the dishes, mind you, but that took 30 minutes. The rest of the time was spent thinking of cool things to do without being able to decide what to do. It's an incidious kind of laziness, really. Definitely something I need to work on. It's the kind of lazy that turns capable people into couch barnacles (not me, I'm sitting on the floor). Fortunately writing this blog is helping shake my brain out of the mush it turns into when I loaf around the house instead of skipping merrily in the beach sand (which is only a mile or two away). So I think I've reached a conclusion, or treatment you might say. When I find myself staring into space while drifting whimsically from thought to thought, I'll write a blog. This should be everyday considering I spend a large portion of my existance in a daydreamy haze. In my current frame of mind it seems like just the kind of substance free self medication that I could get on board with. And the best part is I don't have to condense what's on my mind into 140 characters. Which I'm certain is just as bad for getting to know yourself as it is great for practising brevity. Maybe it will help me improve my "doing something" to "farting around" ratio. The golden ratio. Great, I'm glad we've sorted that out. Time for a shower.
It's working already! Clayton The Record is DONE!!!
Hey everyone!
After 18 months, and countless cans of cheap beer, my debut album is finally done! It is being mastered as we speak, and we are working out artwork and packaging options now. The official release date has yet to be determined, but it will be within a few weeks. The album will be available for download on most major online music retailers, and physical copies will be for sale via the online store on here at claytonbush.com, or at any live show. Thanks to all my friends and family for all their support throughout this long process, the wait is almost over!! Clayton Clayton Bush & The Sonic Dukes interviewed on Jacksonville.com

Jacksonville.com Spotlight: Clayton Bush & The Sonic Dukes 4 More Free Acoustic Downloads!!!
Hey everyone,
I just uploaded four live acoustic tracks under the "free music" section for download, still steady working on the album in the studio and we are roughly half way done. As of right now all of the live tracks are slated to be on the album as well, you can already hear the studio versions of "Metaphors" and "August Rain" on the audio player at the bottom of this page. The video that accompanies the live recordings can also be found on youtube.com and under the video's section of the site here. That's all the news I can think of right now, but keep checking back because I have several new songs in the works that I hope to have some acoustic recordings of available for download sometime soon. Take care!! Clayton 3 Song Album Preview
So much for my plan to keep the album songs on the DL until release. Too many people have been asking me for samples of my music, which is a great thing, but on the flip I can't just put out low quality stuff when I have some great recordings taking up space on my hard drive. So for your listening pleasure, I've posted a little album preview on the sitewide audio player. Listen, enjoy, and sing along at the next show. Love.
Clayton Free Music Available Now!
As promised, the first of a series of free acoustic tunes is available for download. Just hit up the free stuff tab to claim your free swag. It will ask you to join the site to download the song, which is pretty painless, it just takes your name and a valid email. A fair trade I think, considering you will only receive emails about more free stuff that is now available to you as a site member as well as location and times of upcoming venue shows, so you really can't loose. The tune "Windows Down" that you can hear on my sitewide player is a special preview track for everyone from the upcoming album, so it isn't available for download. But it will be available for purchase when the album is done. Until then, enjoy the free downloads and preview. Take care!
Clayton Album Under Construction, Free Stuff on The Way!!!
I know, I know. I have been making noise about an "Upcoming Album" forever. But it is actually happening now. My good friend Michael J is producing it, and we are currently about 3 songs in. Probably going to be a 10 song deal. I've also finally got my own project studio functional, but only after pouring more money than I can afford into it in phases for the past 9 months. So, I'm set up to make some legit sounding demo stuff. This is great for me because I now have everything I need to start learning how to create some really good sounding recordings. This is also great for you, because I'll be posting all of more palatable musical endeavors here on the site for free download to everyone (well, everyone who joins the mailing list ;-) The album has a ways to go, we have to finish tracking the rest of the stuff, get it mixed, mastered, then pressed & packaged. But I'll should be posting some free downloadable demo tunes possibly as soon as next week. I know when I'm checking out a band or musician I like to be able to listen to all their stuff that didn't make the cut. All their Lo-Fi demo's of tunes that for one reason or another fell by the wayside. Inevitably my favorite songs are always found on B-sides. I doubt I'm alone in my love of obscure homemade recordings, so I'll be posting as much of that kind of stuff as I can. I'm going to defy my nature and focus on quantity rather than quality on these demos. Meaning I'll be playing it a little fast and loose on the songwriting front, trying new things to expand my horizons as a writer. But, I'll still try and keep the bad notes to a minimum :-) Anyways, I'm in a writing mood and could probably ramble on for a long time yet, but I won't indulge myself at your expense. Keep your eyes out for free stuff!!!
Clayton Making Love To Mac...
So I usually do all of my computer stuff from my dell, with windows. But I am sitting here with my buddy bill (the one from the awesome band I play in that's myspace page can be found at www.myspace.com/cromeyellowmusic) and he is letting me fool around on his MacBook, so I decided to give the old web-blog a go. Here is a picture:
![]() HA! I love it. Bill says hello. Next time... Don't Be Like This
I just got out of my first class this morning with 2 hours to spare. Plenty of time to study up for the test I have in my next class. Typically I get online and jot down notes from a chapter outline that is posted on a course webpage. I figured I had plenty of time to get that done, so I checked my facebook and read a few blogs. When I finally got around to visiting the page that the chapter outline is usually posted on, it wasn't there. Never had been. I have been warned in class plenty of times that all of the outlines won't be online, and I had 5 days to check it out and get this reading done. I instead opted to do nothing and wait for the clutch-play that has become my go-to move. And now, when I realize the amount of speed skimming I will have to do before class, I decide it would be a better idea to post a blog about the situation. My time management skills are second to none.
so yeah...well, i just spent all this time trying to figure out how to put a blog on this site, and now that i have done it, i dont really have anything to say except...im glad i have a place to write my random thoughts and musings...whenever they strike me...which is not now...but soon...so keep checking back! |
